Interchangeable Lenses – How Do They Work?
AVIEW interchangeable colored lenses slide into a slot at the top of the frame, in front of its clear optical or prescription lenses. You can change lens colors while keeping the same frame and store the unused pair in its included lens wallet.
Start with the correct frame shape
Choose square slip-in lenses for AVIEW square frames and round slip-in lenses for AVIEW round frames. The two shapes are not interchangeable, and AVIEW slip-in lenses are not designed for frames from other brands. Browse the current AVIEW frames and matching lenses before ordering.
How to insert and remove interchangeable lenses
- Your lenses will ship in a small leather lens wallet. Keep them here when not in use so they stay nice and safe.
- The lenses are designed with a handle, so that you never touch the lens itself and get fingerprints on it. When you are ready to slip in some color, just grab the lens by the handle, pull it out of the lens wallet and line it up at the slot on the top of the frame.
- Right lens goes in right side of the glasses frame and left lens goes in on the left side. Note that the “AV” symbol on the lenses should always face away from your face. This is how you can tell easily right lens from left lens. Another way to tell is by noticing the curve of the lens. It should match the curve of your optical lens.
- Gently push down and slide your sunglass lenses down into the frame. This will get easier the more you do it. At first the glasses might feel a bit rigid but this is so the lenses stay nice and snug inside.
- When you are ready to remove your sunglass lenses, just push up on the lens handle that hangs out the side of the frame. Then continue to pull it up by the handle and put it back in your lens wallet, with one lens in each slot.
What if you wear prescription glasses?
AVIEW frames ship with clear optical lenses that can be replaced with your prescription. The colored slip-in lenses are nonprescription and sit in front of those optical lenses. Ask your optician about fitting your prescription to the AVIEW frame.
How many pairs fit in a lens wallet?
Each pair of colored lenses includes a two-slot wallet that holds one pair. To carry two pairs together, choose the optional four-slot lens wallet. Store one individual lens in each slot. Our lens wallet guide explains the difference.
